Electrical Stimulation

FES, TASES, and NISE-Stim to support movement, strength, and function.

What Is Electrical Stimulation Therapy?

At Strength Recovery Performance (SRP), we integrate evidence-informed electrical stimulation technologies to assist children in enhancing muscle strength, motor control, balance, and overall functional abilities. By placing non-invasive surface electrodes over targeted muscles, nerves, or spinal networks, gentle electrical currents stimulate nerve pathways. This therapeutic sensory feedback assists the brain and body in learning smoother, more efficient movement patterns.

Electrical Stimulation at a Glance

Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES)

FES applies precise stimulation during active, goal-directed exercises to encourage muscles to fire at the exact moment needed during real-world tasks.

Task-Specific Electrical Stimulation (TASES)

TASES merges electrical stimulation directly into meaningful, real-life tasks rather than treating muscles in isolation.

Non-Invasive Spinal Electrical Stimulation (NISE-Stim)

NISE-Stim is an innovative neuromodulation technique that utilizes non-invasive electrodes placed along the surface of the spine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Paediatric therapy focuses on helping infants, children, and young adults develop the essential motor, cognitive, speech, and functional skills needed for daily life. At SRP, our team works to enhance physical strength, movement control, communication, and independence in a supportive, fun environment.

If you notice your child struggling with motor milestones (like sitting, crawling, or walking), coordination, balance, fine motor skills, speech clarity, or everyday routines, therapy can help. We offer comprehensive initial assessments to pinpoint your child’s unique needs and guide you toward the right therapy plan.

A formal referral from a GP or pediatrician is generally not required to access our private services. However, if you plan to claim funding or rebates through programs such as Medicare or NDIS, a doctor’s referral or specific plan documentation may be needed.

The initial appointment focuses on an in-depth evaluation. Our therapists assess your child’s range of motion, strength, posture, balance, and developmental milestones while discussing your goals as a family. Based on these findings, we create a tailored treatment plan tailored specifically to your child.

Session durations vary based on the specific program, service type, and your child’s individual needs. Typically, standard weekly sessions range from 45 to 60 minutes, while intensive sessions are structured around customizable timeframes.
